My Experience at the Mat Lalonde PhD Nutrition Seminar...I Thought He'd Be Taller

My recent attendance at the Mat Lalonde PhD nutrition seminar was by far the best step forward in my education that I have taken to date. Let that sink in for a minute. Yes, this one day seminar exceeded all my expectations and blew away the many college courses which I have paid dearly for. Dr. Lalonde is a precise, eloquent, and passionate speaker who really knows his shit! Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way we can move onto what you can expect if you decide to attend a future seminar.

Meatza-Meatza!

I finally took the plunge and made a meatza! These seem fairly popular through the paleo community and I've been interested for awhile now. I was hesitant with adding in dairy to my diet, but after finding some raw cheese at the local co-op I decided to go for it. What follows is mainly just some food porn, so enjoy!

Nature is Good for you!! Duh!

As if you needed another excuse to get outside and enjoy all that nature has to offer, now scientists are proving the health benefits. The researchers in this study determined that being in a natural setting had positive effects on well being and vitality. Add in some movement and play and you've got a cocktail for happiness. Don't forget about the vitamin D you'll be getting from the sun while you're at it! Health benefits abound us all. Could this somehow be related to our genetic makeup from ancestors living, hunting, and foraging for all their lives? Well the jury is still out on that one, but it would make sense from an evolutionary stand point. Either way I suggest you get out and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

Running as a health panacea

I've gotten awfully fed up lately with people saying they need to lose weight and get in shape when they clearly have no motivation or intention to do so. Even more so is when people decide that they should start running to do so! For the sedentary individual looking to make a quick turnaround running is quite possibly the worst idea. Would you take the broken down jalopy behind your garage out to the track and try to go 150mph? Would you try to run a motocross race on a dirt bike with broken shocks? Then why subject your body to the same fate?

A boy and his rock

This is my rock. I say "my" rock because we are now bonded for life. We have been through a lot together. We were involved in a great struggle, overcame, and we're triumphant in our quest. All dramatics aside folks, this rock was a PAIN to move. What started as a favor for my parents, ended up being the ultimate finisher for my workout. What transpired was a war between me and this stinking rock. Thankfully, spoiler alert, I won!

Who am I, and what do I need?

Laying in bed last night it struck me. A concept so simple I couldn't believe that it had taken me this long to stumble upon it. Yes it's a question, but more so it's a way of life. Too many times people lose there way by getting caught up in things and ideas that simply don't apply. Are you being defined by the material things you surround yourself with, or making a legacy based on personal and spiritual achievement? I realize I'm getting a bit philosophic, but these concepts ground themselves in everyday situations. What does this mean to you? Well it could be a turning point in your life, or simply a bunch of nonsense. Who am I, and what do I need?
